| Mark
Neal is a multi instrumentalist with extensive experience
playing in many different styles of music from acoustic
Scottish folk to jazz, funk and rock. Having had music
lessons from around the age of 6, in piano, violin, flute
and drums while a school, mark gained a strong love for
many types of music and took up guitar at around the age
of 16 as an alternative to the more classical music which
was taught in lessons.
Mark quickly took to the guitar and after moving to
Edinburgh to study a physics degree, he got involved with
the lively music scene and started to play in various
bands including the ceilidh band
Teannaich as a
guitarist but also sometimes filling in on drums and bass
and occasionally taking on calling duties (teaching the
dances).
Since then Mark has continued to play in many bands
including the traditional folk band
Heeliegoleerie
who where winners of the 2005 Danny Kyle open stage at Celtic
Connections festival. He has also appeared on numerous
CDs. Since 2003 when he completed a PhD in Acoustics Mark now works full time as a
musician, music teacher and sound engineer. |
